Sarah Beeny reveals where the best place to live in the UK is. Find out which area took the number one spot!
Deciding where to live is never an easy decision to make but Sarah Beeny is on the case to find the best place to live in the UK to help ease the pain.
Property guru Sarah Beeny has recently gone on a search to find the best place to live in the UK, pulling together a detailed and often surprising picture of the good places to live in the UK, some of the places on the list may not be what you expect. Has your town or city made it on the list?
People are constantly searching within the UK, to find that perfect place to live, to find the ideal balance of affordability, jobs, housing, business, wellbeing, transport and culture, there are lots of factors to take into consideration. We’re spoiled for choice in Britain due to the host of wonderful places to live, but for many, it’s a daunting task to choose where is best.
Sarah wants people to take a different approach on thinking about where they could live and to consider something aside from the obvious choices. Sarah takes all contributing factors of deciding where to live and comes up with her worthy winner of the best place to like in the UK.
Sarah says; ‘I’ve worked in property all my life and I’ve learned that it’s ‘not just about high streets and well-decorated interiors. To find the right place to live, what’s essential is planning, planning, planning. Instinct alone is never enough – because often, what we think we know about a place simply isn’t true.’
In tonight’s programme, South Ribble in Lancashire has come top of Sarah’s list as the best place to live in the UK, it’s Mayor, councillor Graham Walton agrees with Sarah’s decision stating ‘residents in South Ribble are happy and proud of where they live, and rightly so. We have some of the best parks in the county right on our doorstep and some of the lowest unemployment rates in the country.”
The residents of South Ribble really do have something to smile about with three Green Flag Parks in the borough, including Worden Park which is the only park outside of London to win the award every year since the start of the scheme, that’s 18 times!
Property choices are varied in South Ribble, from traditional cottages, Victorian terraces to modern apartments and family homes – South Ribble has it all, so the choice is yours.
South Ribble is also well connected with excellent road and rail networks (the West Coast Mainline, M6, M65 and M61 motor ways), so reaching nearby Preston and Chorley won’t be a problem. You’ll also be spoilt for choice of high-quality education, from nursery through to award-winning higher education at Runshaw College and Universities such as Central Lancashire, Manchester, Liverpool and Edge Hill all within 35miles.
All of these factors cement South Ribble firmly at the top of Sarah’s list and as it’s Mayor states “we really have got a lot to smile about living in South Ribble – except the rain of course!”
