Week 28 of Beeny Knows Best, where our very own Sarah Beeny takes to the blog to answer your property-related questions.
I’m about to buy my first buy to let property, should I let it myself or do it through an agent? - Jules
Obviously you should let it on Tepilo but whether you want to manage the property yourself will depend on how much time you have, how close it is and how knowledgable you are. If you can get a list of useful contractors such as an electrician and plumber you can probably manage to do it yourself anyway.
We have a sitting tenant in one of our rental properties who is refusing to leave following us informing her that we intend to sell the property in the near future. What are our rights here? She's been in the property for five years. - Ms Witmore
You need to contact a solicitor. It depends whether she has signed a lease and if so what the lease said. It also depends on whether she has been paying rent or not. The law is quite complicated so check it out thoroughly.
If you have a question that you'd like Sarah to answer in next week's post, email it across to email@example.com with the subject line 'Beeny knows best'.
