October 2013 House Price Index from Land Registry

The Land Registry released the October 2013 House Price Index earlier this morning. The average price of property in England and Wales fell by 0.2% in October 2013 and currently stands at £165,515.

The average price of property in England and Wales fell by 0.2% in October 2013 and currently stands at £165,515. The average price of property in London has shown an increase of 0.2%, currently sitting at £390,720, significantly higher than the national average. The North East saw the most significant monthly price shift with a movement of -3.1%.

Wales saw the greatest monthly price rise with a movement of 2.4%. Eight counties and unitary authorities exhibited no monthly price movement.

From May to August 2012 there were an average of 59,138 sales per month. In the same months a year later, the figure was 69,147, showing an increase of over 10,000 property sales per month.
