I have lived in this maisonette for 13 years and when I moved in the residents in the street where mostly elderly who had lived here a long time, now the flats are occupied by young couples and we have young children playing out in the street which can only indicate that its a safe neighbourhood.
The property has 2 good sized double bedrooms and an excellent living room large enough to have a dining table as well as comfortable sofa seating. I have mainly used the second bedroom as an office / spare room for occasional guests. More recently since having the office installed in the garden I have used the second bedroom as a stand alone dining room but for the purposes of sale I have presented in as a second bed/office space. The windows in the house where replaced in 2007 and the rooms refurbished in 2008.
The garden office is equipped with broadband internet, Telephone and electricity; it’s a nice space to work in overlooking the garden or it would make an excellent games room/bar.
The garden is low maintenance with artificial turf, so no need to mow the lawn. The shrubs pretty much look after themselves a trim back once a year if necessary is all they need.
The Area
There is a selection of ‘corner style shops’ in Powdermill Lane and Hanworth Road, plus a post-office, newsagents, butchers and café and also a stonemasons should you need the odd headstone, lets hope not!. You won’t be stuck for a take-away as there is Chinese, Indian and Fish & Chip shops on the Hanworth Road all very good. There is also a good Indian Restaurant in Powdermill Lane.
Buses
The are 2 services from Hanworth Road, the 111 runs Between Kingston & Heathrow about every 15mins and stops at Hounslow East tube for the Piccadilly line and 110 takes you to Hounslow and Twickenham and runs about every 20-30 minutes depending on the time if day, its also very punctual
Trains
Whitton station is about 5 minutes by car and there is plenty of street parking around the station. You can walk to Whitton in about 20mins there is a short cut via what we call locally the triangle, it’s a small housing estate on a triangle of land between the railway lines. Twickenham Station is easy to get to in the 110 bus and the Journey from Twickenham to Waterloo is about 25mins, this service also stops at Richmond for the District line.
Supermarkets
There is a large Tesco by Twickenham Stadium and a large Sainsburys at Apex corner on the A316. There’s an excellent medium sized Sainsbury in Hampton and is serviced by the 111 bus handy if you don’t have a car. Whitton has a Tesco express, and there is a very big Asda in Hounslow which you can get to on both buses.
Open Spaces
Richmond borough is I think the greenest in all of London. The buses will take you to Bushy Park (III) or to Twickenham Riverside (110) you can also get to Richmond Riverside by easily changing buses in Twickenham. Crane Park is within in walking distance and makes a pleasant walk along the Riverbank and is a really excellent safe cycling route to Twickenham. Crane Park also has a nature reserve and an interesting Shot Tower dating back to when it was a Gun Powder Mill. There is also a local recreation ground which you can see from the window of the main bedroom
The field
Behind the garden is a stables and the horses are turned out into the field daily. It’s a real treat to see a horse gallop by I think it’s what I will miss most about this flat along with watching the squirrels chasing the magpies in the big tree you can see from the bed.
Why I an moving
I have bought a plot of land in Hampton and I am nearing completion of a self build house. Therefore there is no chain involved in the sale of number 68 as I shall be moving to an on site caravan until the house is habitable. |
