What is a listed building?

Listed buildings are those considered to be of architectural or historical importance...

In England there is Grade 1, 2*, or 2 listing - in Scotland there is A, B or C.

A listed building is a building that is considered by Scottish or English Heritage to be of architectural or historical importance. A listed building will need any alterations within the curtilage; ie boundary of the property to be carried out with Listed Building Consent from the local planning department
